"I never seen anything like him"  ...

The Great Legendary Unknown, KEVIN KELLY (on himself).

Born and raised in Poughkeepise, New York. Wrote songs for a play of mine I performed years later at the Actors Studio (member) called "AIN'T NO COYOTES IN POUGHKEEPSIE". New 15-song album to be released in the summer of 2008 called "LOST IN THE CRACKS OF THE MODERN WORLD" to compliment present "DOWN IN TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK". Recently celebrated the release of "NOBLE CAUSE" (a protest song inspired by Cindy Sheehan) featured on the "UNITED STATES OF CONCIOUSNESS" produced by Mike Giangreco and performed it at the Whiskey along with a new song called "BONES OF MY PEOPLE".

After reading "On The Road", I traveled the country & upon returning from Key West  stumbled upon the film "HAIR" in Central Park in NYC. I was given a role in the film & got my first place on The Lower East Side (a hundred dollar bathtub-in-the-kitchen railroad apartment). I studied acting on scholarship from William Hickey ay HB Studio's and began acting Off & Off-Off Broadway from La Mama to Tin Pan Alley to Lincoln Center Did the Broadway Tour of "Biloxi Blues" and "Orphans" as I wrote plays like "The Street In The Kid" about a midget on 42nd and "McDonalds Is The Kind Of Place" about the homeless on Christmas Eve. After an accident to my left hand, I taught myself guitar in a 6 by 12 room & played out in Washington Square, on the corner, in the street, down in the subway & raised hell in the Bleecker Street folk scene forming a band (Kevin Kelly & The Hooligans) rockin' the East Village like CBGB's, Downtown Beirut, 'till delivered the love letter ode to the band "MASSACRE MY MUSIC, turned around from to east to west, a one-man band without a fan with songs in my pocket from glory days "DOWN IN TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK".

In Los Angeles, I've caused riots, wrote songs, inspired films "HALO IN MY COFFEE, OBSESSION: LETTERS TO DAVID LYNCH, & "RUNNING OUT OF TIME IN HOLLYWOOD" always playin' the role of myself. But mostly I been playin' the troubadour in coffeehouses & clubs like the Whiskey A GoGo, Pig 'n Whistle, The Brown Derby, etc. I play guitar a la Richie Havens & piano (in the key of C only!) and I give it up when I perform. I like to go where a I think a Native American shaman might go if he were to ever return to the proverbial tribe. I've written over a thousand songs in the tradition primarly of Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Dylan, Sprinsteen. Vocally, I get Tom Waits, Bob Seeger, Warren Zevon- Older folks say Neil Diamond. I say, Elvis.

See ya 'round the block. Peace out, Kevin "Kelvis" Kelly
